If your files are stored in your home directory and were recently deleted or altered, you may be able to recover them on your own from a snapshot. Look in the .snapshot directory under your home directory. You will see a listing like the one below:

Look for the directory that indicates a data and time that you would like to restore from. Inside of this directory you will see your home directory structure. Find the file or directory and copy it back into your home directory.

NOTE: Snapshots are read-only. You will not be able to modify files inside of a snapshot.

If you are unable to retrieve your own file through a snapshot, please email rt at c2b2.columbia.edu (for C2B2 members) or help at icg.cpmc.columbia.edu (for HICCC and ICG members) with the following information:

Full path of the file ie:/ifs/home/c2b2/aqu/...etc...etc
Date of when the file was lost and please give us a date range.
Hostname if the file is not on the /ifs file servers.

We will let you know if your file is available for retrieval and, if possible, restore your file.
