C2B2 to launch new compute cluster - 10/01/2012

Over the next couple of months, C2B2 will launch a new compute cluster that boasts 212 TFlops of performance, or nearly 9x the total computing capacity of Titan. The new system will has 6336 CPU-cores, over 70,000 CUDA-cores (GPU), and 22 TB of total system memory. The funding for this new system was provided primarily by an NIH High-End Instrumentation grant.

C2B2 VPN Discontinued - 6/15/2012

As of 6/15/2012, C2B2 will no longer maintain a VPN service for the general user community. Users requiring VPN connections can use the VPN provided by CUMC IT. Information on using this VPN can be found at http://www.cumc.columbia.edu/it/howto/vpn/index.html.

We recommend using the "AnyConnect" VPN services listed on the page above. If you have difficulty with the CUMC VPN service, please call CUMC IT for assistance at: 212-305-HELP (4357).

Offsite E-mail forwarding to be discontinued - 9/29/2011

Due to new CUMC campus policy, forwarding of e-mail addresses to offsite e-mail accounts (e.g. gmail, yahoo mail, etc.) will no longer be allowed. This change in policy will be effective for C2B2/HICCC/ICG members on Friday, Ocrober 8th 2011. If you have any questions, please contact IT support.

End of life announcement for the CGC & C2B2 domains - 9/26/2011

The CGC & C2B2 domains have been deactivated and are no longer in use. We are still using the C2B2 domain for Domain Name Service (DNS) purposes only. All C2B2 members are to ONLY use their ARCS credentials to login to the newly created ARCS domain. If you experience any login issues please contact support via email at rt@c2b2.columbia.edu .

Storage and backup upgrades under way - 7/15/2011

Major changes are afoot on our storage systems. We will be implementing a state-of-the-art replication system to allow us to better ensure integrity of more data more rapidly. To see details of, see the new storage documentation. We do not anticipate any storage outages for this upgrade.

Introducing ARCS - 7/1/2011

We have adopted a new name, Advanced Research Computing Support (ARCS) to cover IT Services at C2B2 for all of the centers and groups that we support.

End of life announced for Gaia cluster - 7/19/2011

The Gaia compute cluster, after providing over 10 million compute hours of research computing for C2B2, will be retired on August 31st 2011. Any users still using Gaia need to be sure to port their software to Titan before the end of life data. On August 31st 2011 Gaia will be shutdown and no longer available to users. If you need help porting your jobs, please contact support through a Trouble Ticket.
