Policies & Procedures

ARCS is responsible for the security of all servers in the ARCS and ICG domains this includes security patches, updates, firewall protection and password protection.

Users will never receive full administrative rights to any server.

LINUX Servers and Sudo

For LINUX servers users would be granted sudo privileges thus limiting users to execute a specific command or process.

User requiring sudo privileges must send a tech request to ARCS with the written permission from their PI. The request must state the functions needed to perform on the server.

ARCS will direct the user on the correct command line usage for sudo.

Any user circumventing any ARCS server security practices will be held accountable and will result in disciplinary action.
