Zimbra Migration

Mail is no longer hosted on Microsoft Exchange, but rather Zimbra. If you forward your c2b2.columbia.edu mail to columbia.edu or some other destination, please jump to But I forward my mail. To use the new system, minor reconfiguration of your mail reader is required to point it at the new server. Please follow the link to instructions for your mail reader below.

Why are we changing? This worked fine before

Regrettably, email has become increasingly problematic with Microsoft Exchange. The mail databases has become frequently corrupted, difficult to administer and ill-suited to a growing non-Windows user base. Additionally, the cost of building a reliable, scalable Exchange system proved to be prohibitive. Zimbra addresses these issues and offers significantly greater flexibility at reduced cost. For more information on Zimbra, see the Zimbra product page.

So what should I expect?

After Wednesday (4/20/2010) morning at 10am, you will not longer be receiving new mails until you reconfigure your mail reader. Once you reconfigure, you will be able to send & receive new mails immediately. Your old mail, calendars, to-dos & notes will flow in over the course of the day. You may use your mail while this migration is in process.

If anything is missing after 3pm, please report it to RT.

But I forward my mail

If you forward your @c2b2.columbia.edu mail, no changes should be necessary. However we do ask that you send a test mail to your-address@c2b2.columbia.edu and make sure it is delivered correctly.
